I currently serve as an Entrepreneurial Advisor at the New England Conservatory. My current advisee is a graduate saxophonist looking to promote minimalist music and augment traditional concerts with art film. I also am the percussion instructor and creative writing teacher at Creative Arts, where I teach private percussion lessons, a group class in Found Percussion, and a Survey of Fiction writing course. I am developing a hybrid online course in Music Appreciation that employs social media for Red Rocks Community College.
I have taught at The University of Colorado-Boulder as Dr. Douglas Walter’s sabbatical replacement. I developed a course called “New Music, New Spaces: The Changing Rhythms of Classical Music” for the University of Denver. I taught Music Appreciation, History of Jazz, World Music, and History of Rock and Pop at Red Rocks University, where I was also the percussion instructor. I taught Intro to Mass Media at the Community College of Denver.
I am also a guest artist at the Denver School of the Arts, where I created a Telling Stories program that unites the creative writing, visual arts, and music programs, and students create interdisciplinary works. I have also worked as a teaching artist with the Harmony Project since 2008, where I have partnered with classroom teachers to create curriculum mixing music and math, science, and poetry.
I have been the music instructor at the Rocky Mountain Deaf School, where I taught one of the nation’s only deaf percussion ensembles. I have worked teaching high school percussion ensembles at Arvada West, Ponoma High School, and Wheat Ridge High School. I was the percussion instructor at Luzerne Music Center, where I lead junior high and high school percussionists in studio class, percussion ensemble, private lessons, and workshops with musicians from the Philadelphia Orchestra.
I was the Youth Director at Lighthouse Writers Workshop, where I ran the Young Writers Program. I developed and taught weekend workshops for 5th graders through high school seniors, and also developed writing outreach programs for Denver public schools.
